From 30th June - 5th July 2025, our Hub will be home to a thought-provoking art exhibition: Processing Trauma in Black Bodies.

Hosted by Cornelius Browne, a therapeutic art practitioner, the exhibition is the re-scripting of the vicious cycle of submission and normalisation of racial trauma using the visual arts, poetry, and prose.

The exhibition will include therapeutic spaces and workshops which will feature creative and expressive writing, psychoeducation on trauma, and art for the soul.

A piece of work displayed on the first day:

OMOGE ADUMAADAN A rare expression used by adult males of my childhood in Lagos of the early 1960s. Rare because it was only used to describe a stunningly beautiful female with an extremely dark complexion. Omoge Adumaadan was never used to flatter nor to woo a woman. The men honestly expressed it among themselves with candour and approval.

"I regularly witness a spontaneous outburst of emotional healing and euphoria experienced by the African diaspora while engaging with my works," stated Browne.
